July 4 Pictures and Update

Going all in

So we set up the water table because it was getting hot again.  Brady has a new technique in 2010.  It is called, the water table is also a wading pool.

Cool Camera

The Elph has not been one of our better cameras in terms of the autofocus.  But this time it did an awesome job of catching a water/snot thing hanging from Brady's mouth.  Yuck!

Facepalm

Brady what have you done?  You are supposed to use the cup to fill up the blue thing which then turns the wheel.

Got it Working

Brady has the set up working properly.  Granted he is all wet and his hair is slicked down from water, but he finally figured it out.

Riding a Choo Choo

Daddy has wanted to get Brady on a train for a while.  He's ridden a bus, plane, car, etc. so it seemed like train was the natural next step.  He's also a fan of his Thomas toys and likes seeing the Metroliner go by.  So when the local railroad, Fillmore & Western, had hour-long July 4 rides, the wish came true.  Here is Brady well behaved in his seat.

Movie Set

The upcoming movie Water for Elephants did some filming along the route that the train took.  So I took a picture.

Riding outside with Daddy

One thing about Brady is he doesn't hold still for long.  So an hour was too much for him to handle.  We eventually relocated to the open air car and that seemed to calm him down enough to complete the trip.

Looking over the edge

Brady likes to find ways to elevate Mommy's blood pressure.  Trying to climb the side of the train car turned out to be a very good one.

Happy 4th of July.  Its been a fun weekend.  Brady went to Scooter's Jungle yesterday (think Chuck E Cheese but not sucky) and on the train ride today.  He's just doing all the same Brady things only better.  More talking and more running and more being rough on stuff.  He feels pretty heavy/dense right now so maybe he is getting ready to grow again?  He is about due for a growth spurt, right?  Who would believe that tomorrow makes 26 months.  Heck Brady is so big he just say he is 2 (I guess until he turns 2 1/2).  The next big thing that is probably coming is the change from the crib to the toddler bed.  We've already got the sheets (Elmo + airplanes) so it is just getting the bed and feeling Brady is ready (he still moves around a LOT overnight).

New Haircut

Brady got another haircut.  We like it.  Here he is playing with one of his toy monkeys.  He was making the monkey ride on a fire truck.

buzzjammies.jpg

Buzz Jammies

Brady is wearing his new Buzz Lightyear jammies.  Daddy likes them and not just because they have rockets and a cool green color.  They are also some 24 month clothes where Brady seems big.  And Brady is a little bit bigger as you can see with him standing next to the fish tank.

Click here to see Brady spell his name. And also run his toy car into Sundae's face. Poor Sundae!

Waiter in the Making

What makes this picture so funny is the story behind it.  Brady picked up the puzzle and started walking around with it saying "pizza".  So somewhere he has learned that people walk around with big plates of pizza.  It must be at daycare.

Happy 11th of July.  Don't forget to go to 7-11 and get your free slurpee.  Brady had a fun week with mommy home.  You can see from the pajama picture that Brady has grown a little.  He's grown to 34 1/4" tall.  Go Brady!

July 31 Pictures and Update

Playing at Hart Barn

Brady and Allyson got to see the cow, pigs, chickens, bunnies, rooster (which scared Brady), horse and donkey.  Then they ran around the stairs.  Here they are posing for a picture.  Allyson is so much taller than Brady.

NewPool

Kim and Grandma bought Brady a new pool with a slide and giraffe head spray nozzle.  Here he is a little bit perplexed and scared by the spraying head.

Click here to see Brady self-discipline himself and point out the bad things that he is doing. (warning big (28MB) file)

Down the Slide

Brady wants to hold hands as he goes down and makes a big splash.  Go Bradyman!

New Pool is Fun

Brady has an ear-to-ear grin.  The pool was a big hit.

Brady went to a new pediatrician this month.  Dr. Kim thought Brady has a hernia so we wanted to get a second opinion.  We took him to Valencia Pediatrics and they confirmed it.  We also got a referral to the children's surgeon at Cedars Sanai (Facey surgeon was wary of operating on Brady due to the metatropic dysplasia).  So he got referred to Cedars and got looked over.  He has a small hernia.  It is too small for anything solid to go through but he does have liquid going through and they want to operate to close it up so that it does not tear and actually become a problem.  So Brady has surgery scheduled at the end of August.

The various offices are funny in their height stats.  The pediatrician had Brady at 34 3/8" (correct) while the surgeon had him at 32.5" (wrong, although he was moving around and he does stand a little hunched). It is interesting how Brady can get such different readings.  But he is always on the go.  I am not looking forward to trying to have him be mellow during the outpatient recovery.

August 22 Pictures and Update

At the Fair

We went to the fair last weekend with Allyson's family, the Londons.  The 4-H kids were showing all of their animals.  Brady used his cuteness to get access to one of the goat cages.  The goats were really interested in mommy.  Especially in eating Mommy's hair, shirt, and purse.

Brady and Goats

Brady's favorite thing to do was splash in the goats' water.  Here he is actually interacting with them a little bit.  He was a little bit scared/nervous but generally did a great job around them.

solongpigs.jpg

So long pigs

Brady also got  behind the scenes access to the pigs.  Unfortunately the pigs are a little bit larger than Brady was comfortable with.  So Brady pretty much kept his distance from the pigs and did not want to get up close with them.

Buzzcut Brady

Mommy took Brady to get a haircut this morning.  Daddy got one too.  Here we see Private Brady reporting for duty sir.

Cheesy Grin

Brady has learned to smile for pictures.  And how to overdo it.

It has been a while since we made some updates.  August has been a busy month.  Brady went and saw the pediatrician a few times (he has a hernia surgery scheduled for next Friday) and the children's orthopedic.  So the orthopedic visit was a mixed bag.  Brady's neck still looks good so we don't need a fusion surgery any time soon.  Brady's kyphosis has gotten worse (a 10 deg change over the past 6 months).  That is bad news.  The doc said if it keeps up, then we would have to consider surgery at the next appointment.  Boo hoo.  We were originally told surgery at ages 5-7.  Now we are looking at the next 6 months to the next 6 years.  We did the pre-op exam for the hernia surgery this past Friday.  The good news out of that was Brady's height.  He measured (laying down) at 35 1/4" tall.  Wow!  Talk about a growth spurt in the past couple of weeks!   He is virtually in the normal range for boys.  He is an inch shorter when standing but that is due to his back.  It is interesting to see him being able to see over the tops of tables where he was at head height months ago.

Brady is also becoming a fan of Skype.  He like seeing Grandpa Bob and his little dog Buster.

Brady Before Surgery

The little tiger even looks sad.

bradygloves.jpg

Dr Brady making a break for it

Brady is very clever.  He figured if he put the gloves on then he would look more like a doctor and then he could get out of pre-op.  Plus with the gloves on, he wouldn't leave any fingerprints to his crime getaway.

bradywithdoc.jpg

Headed into surgery

One thing Cedars does that is very cool is they walk the kids into the room rather than stressing them out by putting them on a gurney,

So Brady had his hernia surgery yesterday.  Things went very well.  Dr Wang said he checked both sides but only the right side had problems (which we knew).  The left side was fine.  The surgery took about an hour and then Brady was very sad and disoriented when the anesthesia wore off.  But mommy was there to cheer him up and by lunch he was getting back to being his usual happy self.  He had some wobbly legs from the nerve block but was getting around better after his afternoon nap.  He woke up this morning and was a little bit sore but we tried to keep ahead of the pain with Childrens Tylenol.  The hardest thing with Brady is he goes a mile-a-minute and still wants to climb things or hop down the stairs or do all sorts of other things that he shouldn't.  He is such a little toughie.

We took him to the animal barn today to keep him busy and do something close to home.  Brady fed the deer (California Mule Deer) right out of his hand.   He is pretty fearless.
